Il pesce rosso dov’è?

The film ends and concludes Elisabetta Sgarbi’s trilogy about the men and women of the Po river Delta, after “Per soli uomini” (2014) and “Il pesce siluro è innocente” (2014). The director describes a world of water-men who live on the Po Delta, between the river and the sea. Heirs to an ancient, difficult tradition, often of poverty, yet glorious. They are proud to belong to an unstable world, treacherous, subjected to the harshness of the weather and of destiny, but they would never exchange this for any other place.

They “are” the river and from it comes the credibility of their accusations. “Il pesce rosso dov’è?” (“Where is the Red Fish?”) is the question which synthesizes the disappearance of many a species of fish.

The film-documentary was made with the sponsorship of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
