Zeus Machine

Directed by David Zamagni e Nadia Ranocchi | Documentary | 2018

The film is built upon the remains of the myth of the Invincible, whose adventures unfold in a randomized flow of events and, like archaeological finds, showcase the fragments of a remote civilization depicted in scenes of everyday life and rituals. The first Examples succeed one another, bringing back the mutable and circular nature of the myth: relentless machine that records the experience of our passage through time and space. Invincible of the story is Hercules, the hero of labours. We see him float around the Earth’s orbit, waiting to hit the ground and start taking action. We will find him back again, in the pose of the wrestler or that of the future bullfighter; or yet making himself into a pilot to challenge apparent motion; or a little girl, taking us to the hidden den of two devotional animals.
