Una nobile rivoluzione

Una nobile rivoluzione is a documentary on the life of Marcella Di Folco, leader of the Italian LGBT movement, deceased in September 2010. After her passing, Simone Cangelosi, the film director and Marcella’s friend, goes on a trip from Bologna to Rome, Marcella’s hometown. There he starts his search for people, places and memories which can reflect the complexity of his friend’s personality. Marcella had many lives, a male and a female one, one as bouncer at the Piper in the ‘60s, one as supporting actress in Italian films with our cinema’s great masters, Fellini in first place, and then a life as political leader, first transsexual in the world to be elected to public office and a symbol for civil rights struggles in Italy and abroad.
