Deserto rosa/Luigi Ghirri

This film-documentary is inspired by Luigi Ghirri’s last project: setup a farmhouse near his home in the proximity of Roncocesi (Re), a “house of seasons” to host exhibitions, each tied to the current season, and create a tight relation between the time of nature and the time of art.
The film describes a series of landscapes photographed by Ghirri following the sequence of the seasons: spring, summer, fall, winter and “nightly spring”.
Franco Battiato wrote the original score, the screenplay was written by the Russian director Alekandr Sokurov with actors Sabrina Colle and Andrea Renzi. The script was written by Ghirri, Diego Marani, Antonio Scurati and Vittorio Sgarbi, Toni Servillo and Andrea Renzi are the narrators.
The film was produced by the Emilia-Romagna Region, with contributions from Rai Cinema, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Reggio Emilia.
