Al Cusna - le radici del canto, la memoria del cuore

A tribute to the Apennines mountains and valleys, to the landscape’s harmony and the rich local culture of Monte Cusna, 2121 metres high, the highest peek in the Apennines of the province of Reggio. The documentary tells of the trip to the mountains, between past and present. The protagonist is Mara Redeghieri, eclectic singer of the historical group Ustmamò, who meets those who bear witness to the tradition and with them goes through the music and the literary repertoire of the valleys of Enza, Dolo and Secchia. Wizards, befane, octave rhymes, ballads, shepherds and saints songs: these are the subjects of Mara’s research, who digs deep into the singing tradition of the Apennines with respect and curiosity, with a surprisingly modern reinterpretation.
