Laura Bassi, una vita straordinaria

The documentary tells the story of Laura Maria Caterina Bassi, the first woman that can be said to have had a scientific and academic carrier. Laura Bassi was the first woman associated to the Accademia Benedettina, the first to be a professor in Europe. The film tells her story, traced through documents and excerpts from her correspondence, collected by English and Italian women scholars. The story describes a woman with extremely strong determination, with great disposition towards learning as well as teaching, who, since a very young age, wanted to redirect her studies from classic philosophy to modern physics.

Marta Cavazza, teacher at the University of Bologna, in collaboration with Marta Franceschini, were the scientific consultant for the texts.
